Both essays are well written overall, establishing a valid standpoint supporting it well. If I have one piece of criticism, it is that the introductory paragraphs tend to go on too long. During the actual AP Exam, it would probably be best to cut the introduction down to vital elements in order to leave more time for content in the body paragraphs. There were good points made, but it would be nice to see further elaboration (the turtle chapter was symbolism, but how exactly was the symbolism relevant to the story?). The essays were well done, that's really the only improvement I can think of.
These essays were written very well. They provide great insight into what the author was thinking. I would give this essay a good grade because of how much symbolism he used.
